The fifth race in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to Bristol, Tennessee and the Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500. Through the first four races this season there has been a new driver picking up the checkered flag every race from William Byron to Daniel Suarez and Kyle Larson to Christopher Bell. All four of them will try to be the first driver this season to win multiple races and catch Ryan Blaney who is the current points leader at the top of the standings. This track will also host a playoff race later in the season giving all of the drivers today a preview of what to expect if they make the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

Blaney will be on the pole today to try and win the Food City 500. This season Joey Logano has won two poles, and Michael McDowell and Denny Hamlin have each won one apiece. No driver has won from the pole this season through four races.
Blaney also leads all drivers with 151 points, 10 points ahead of the rest of the field of drivers. He has finished in the top five in the last three races with three top-five finishes. Larson (141 points), Martin Truex Jr. (141 points), Byron (134 points) and Tyler Reddick (130 points) round out the rest of the top five in the points standings through four races.
Last season Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the dirt race during the regular season and then the final race in the round of 16 in the playoffs. Bell won the dirt race and the pole for the playoff race. Hamlin won the playoff race giving him and Bell the experience and momentum to win here today.
